Pros & Cons
Pros
Ge electronic window air conditioner 6000 btu, black, efficient cooling for smaller areas like bedrooms and guest rooms, 6k btu window ac unit with easy install kit. It's quiet too. Easy install too. A little noisy but worth it.
Pool noodles for insulation on either side give one a better and quieter seal. Cools down my 16'x22' shop quickly, is decently quiet and hasn't ever stopped working. Works well in a bedroom (180 sq feet) and not too loud.
The controls are a little fiddly, but it works well. Put a timer to insure cool bedtime. It is nice to have the remote control, so when the room gets too chilly you can turn it off from bed.
Cons
Even with adequate tilt the unit gurgles and drips water from the front. This ac is barely 3 months old and it leaks like crazy. Poor design with the water wheel concept makes it spit even with the rubber plug removed.
Extremely disappointing, especially when it's priced at almost 200. No wifi, cheaper 7segment display and controls. Also, it's really annoying that it defaults to eco mode.
Highlights
Quality
For the size and btu size, it works really good and had kept our bedroom comfy during hot days.
This air conditioner works great cooks the room down fast
Definitely not like those old school huge clunky ac units that weighed 50 pounds from back in the day.
The filter is ridiculous, and you have to remove the front housing to check the coils for lint.
Price
Didn't have a remote as it's a dial operation and not expensive.
Shipping
Ac units have come a long way.
Packaging/appearance
Pleasantly surprised when he finally installed it and asked me to come take a look, it's small and powerful!
I bristled at the thought of having a tacky looking ac unit hanging out of the upstairs window of my home, but reluctantly gave... Read More
Competitiveness
I tried many acs and this one is efficient compared to the midea brand
I still would buy another one, and think ge makes the best acs, compared to frigidaire.
I replaced an older ge unit this year (very similar model but fewer features).

So you could definitely use this up through fall but we will most likely take it out of the window once it starts to frost in the coming weeks
