Pros & Cons
Pros
It makes ice fast and doesn't melt too fast. Surprisingly, the ice bin keeps the ice cold enough that it melts very slowly. A full bin takes about 12 hours to fully melt!
Cleaning is very easy but time consuming at 20-30 minutes of automatic cleaning. It’s automatic and runs along without supervision.
This is so awesome and makes a ton of ice. I was pleasently suprised. This machine is wonderful and does not disappoint.
Once you get into the habit of keeping things clean and filtered, the noise issue disappears. The noise is actually a helpful indicator that it's time to clean the machine or switch to filtered water.
Cons
I'm hugely disappointed because it does make good ice when it works. Is it worth the hassle to keep it going? It is not. Now it sits in a dark corner, collecting dust.
It leaves water in the bottom of the reservoir. Makes more of a mush than ice pellets. It has a screeching squealing sound that doesn't go away. It leaks, squeals, rusts.
After a month of waiting for a replacement for the 3rd party company, the refurbished replacement is worse than the first one. Ge needs to provide a refund or credit for the poor quality of the machine. No one repairs them.
It now runs in constant defrost mode and all my ice melts almost as soon as it's made. Ge needs to include a place to return this machine free of charge so that we do not put the machine including the freon (refrigerant) in land fills.

The first one lasted 20 months, using distilled water, about a gallon a day, and never ran it thru a cleaning cycle.
All have made great pearl ice; however the three initial makers all malfunctioned.
Price
There should be no reason this expensive machine is already having issues.
I wish now i had enough $$$ to spend on the extra capacity unit.
