Pros & Cons
Pros
My first few tasks involved just chasing threads in nuts and bolts to restoring them to working order. Works very well. Great for tight areas. Taps work well too.
The taps and dies are sharp and cut easily. They are hard and retain their sharpness. It has a good quantity for the price compared to a snap on/ blue point set. It's priced well and is really a convenient set.
Ratchet handle works like a normal socket wrench handle - clockwise, counterclockwise, there is no center lock position. The wrachet handle for the dies is really handy when cutting threads on a piece mounted in my lathe.
Cons
The ratchet seems to free wheel often when changing direction and also slips or begins to freewheel when under torque. The internals of the ratchet are not of good quality - when used with higher torque as necessary for larger threads, it often switch... Read More
Many of the dies are mislabeled so there are duplicates and missing dies. Description is both wrong and deceitful. Clearly, misrepresentation of what's included.
Most of the sizes of the metric taps and dies are just ridiculous and you will never use them. There are some sae standard sizes that are not in this large assembly of tap and die sets. The set should not be available on amazon.
Highlights
Quality
Seems well made with a good selection of tap and dies.
The tap and die numbers and sizes are super easy to read, which made the whole process smoother and more efficient.
25 die destroyed a stud full of paint that i was trying to chase.
Has most every tap or die you might want or needfor most common situations
Price
Overall, these appear to be in the very good value range.
I think this is a bang for the buck, get a lot of taps and dies to get you started type arrangement
Heck of a lot cheaper than matco and snap on---- matco rebrands things anyway!
If the price can decrease a little that would be a five stars !
Shipping
It took a while to be delivered, but worth the wait.
Competitiveness
It is much better than other sets out there that i've owned.
Really like this kit was a bit pricey compared to other brands but i have had good experience with gearwrench.
I researched gearwrench as a brand, and they have above average scores.
I would put their stuff on par with craftsman brand tools.

The tap and die set offer is very large on the net and it is difficult to sort it out and judge quality remotely
