The light is such that if its near a wall or a ceiling the beam is so bright shining up that it will make a spot on the wall or ceiling which looks like a flashlight is shining in a circle beam which spoils the realism a bit

Not sure why they put the dropping wax effect down the sides of the candle

Unless christian grey is holding the candle or its on a rocking sailboat there is no way a candle this thick would ever drop down the sides like it was a thin taper
