Pros & Cons
Pros
If you want the most bang for your buck this is the one to go with. The card looks pretty good and has great cooling. For both purposes it performs very well.
The only downside is temperature. Amd has the stock fan speed at 46%. Monitored edge, junction, and memory temps. stock setting temps reaches 100c in benchmarks at the junction, but amd says this is normal and will throttle until 110.
Evga 850 gq, 80+ gold 850w. Amd is better than nvidia in the $400 market. Mesa 19. Llvm 9, opengl 4.
Tried it on linux 5. It almost always gives me a message saying that the device hung. No issues with drivers or software or anything. Make sure to ddu any old drivers before installing the new drivers.
Cons
The 5700xt is supposed to be equal to the rtx 2070s but time is money and if you are spending time troubleshooting issues with the 57000xt, you're better of with the 2070s. The graphics card 5700x is good, however gigabyte is absolutely horrible. Blac... Read More
I really wish i had read all these reviews before spending premium money on what is a sub-par card. Extremely dissatisfied with gigabyte.
Tech support is not helpful. Runs a buttload of useless processes. The opening flaps were not even taped to the box.
Highlights
Quality
I picked this 5700 xt specifically due to the advertised thermal performance, and i am very satisfied.
Amazing card, and best bang for the buck.
I would love to pick up the new 6000 series or even the invidia 3000 series but with the current outage of product i went with this.
Given the size and quality of the monitor, i was concerned the card would struggle to perform.
Price
Right we’re the price needs to be.
I also noticed that there seems to be a shortage of these boards, and the prices have gone up.
Competitiveness
I have this paired with a ryzen 5 1600 af oc to 3.
I use it it with a 240hz monitor for gaming and also do photo editing.
I prefer some of the higher tier video cards (strix, red devil, aorus, nitro+) but those can run an extra 50 bucks or more.
Drivers are all up to date, no black screens in sight, and it runs everything smoothly with ryzen 7 3800x.
