As others have stated the wire hangs from below the light shade on the top of the lamp and is a distraction

Note i am sure others wont be as silly as i am but when i first put it together the lamp shade seemed to wobble and not sit flush on the shelf

Of course when i took it apart i realized i forgot to unscrew the anchor that holds the shade tight

The anchor is a round screwcircle devise that needs to be unscrewed removed shade put in place and then screwed back on
