I use the amazon basics rechargeable aas, and they work great with these. My main flash uses an expensive proprietary battery. This is really handy to have with a backup flash.

It works beautifully, and clients are stunned by the quality of the pictures.
In a worst-case scenario where my batteries all die, i can always run over to a store and buy some regular aas and keep shooting.
But for headshots and other controlled photoshoots, it works really well.
Price
This is a really good affordable flash.
But having flashes that use aas is really handy, because they're a lot cheaper than the proprietary flash batteries.

I ended up buying a second one to keep as a backup flash just in case either the backdrop or my main flash has an issue
