Pros

The nightvision/infrared is black and white.

Google nest has a great app with an easy interface. I have young children who tend to be mischievous and rowdy. I love the nest/google ecosystem and it's really easy to set up.

Cons

The nest app is very disappointing comparedto the original nest cam. App is better, better connectivity and features. Not even close to functional parity through the google home app.

This is the only item in the entire house that will not reconnect. You get 2 seconds before it freezes and you have to close and reopen. Frequently, a message appears on the frame of the requested clip, this video isn't available yet.

They no longer stamp the camera with the qr code so if you lose the paper/sticker you won't be able to connect or use the camera. The poorly written troubleshooting instructions say that you can’t reset the password on the cameras instead you must uni... Read More

You get the same alert for a bark as “a stranger is talking in your home”. The 2nd generation cameras are not compatible with the nest app. This is a problem for me as i have multiple cameras i want to archive footage from and there is no easy way.

It’s really simple to use and the quality it’s really good

Excellent in video/image qualit, person or animal recognition.

Worked fine after many tries to "connect" failed.

All clips/videos stored in cloud with delay in downloading which also slow with very frequent error: camera not available now.

Price

I bought these used for less than $64 each.

I also like the option to store a number of days of data at the low price offered in the plan.

Competitiveness

Additionally, the integration with other google products is a fantastic bonus.

We used arlo before but these are much easier to use and the battery life is crazy long compared to arlo.

I feel i can cover more space because the imaging is superior compared to the other options in the market.
