Pros & Cons
Pros
One of the standout features of the nest protect is its intelligent alerts and notifications. Its sleek and minimalist appearance blends seamlessly with any home decor. Built-in pathlight provides subtle illumination in darkened hallways.
Dogs and cat trigger the siren throughout the night. Previously the fire alarm would get triggered by a rapid change in humidity. No more chasing chirps around the house in the middle of the night!
Dual-sensor technology ensures prompt and accurate detection of potential hazards. Works great with detecting smoke and co2 levels. Design of the app and the detectors are beautiful to look at, and painless to install.
Cons
For the last 6 months it drains the battery down every 6 weeks. Junking them and going with first alert z wave alarms. Now they just chirp like old fashioned units.
This is a textbook example of how continuous improvement can ruin a perfectly fine product. Kidde and treatlife have better products doing the exact same for less money, and you don't have to jump through and swear your firstborn to them.

Price is high but then its promises are too - simple install, seems to integrate into the house well.

The alarms cost more than other brands, but the features are worth it.
This smoke and co detector is the pick by the staff at wirecutter (nytimes).
