Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

The 8a is a fine upgrade to the 7a. Upgraded from a pixel 6. It's very powerful and has a ton of great features.

The pixel 8a is slightly larger than the moto x4 and for me, that's a plus. The screen size is right for me. It's thicker than the 5 but still slippery.

Cons

I hope the phone defect was just a fluke, and doesn't happen to other phones. Also noted some glitches with video playback within apps. According to my carrier the model has to be gkv4x. Not compatible with their network.

Price

All in all, a great device for less than $500 (with a $100 preorder rebate).

For 500 bucks this phone does everything well, including great photos.

Can save$$ while having benefits of google pixel phones.

I had an iphone my entire life, but the prices for phones have been crazy so as soon as i saw this, i thought it was time to switch.

I’m coming from the pixel 5 which was my most recent daily phone that i’m now upgrading to this 8a since the pixel 5 is no longer updated by google

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I did an amazon review of the pixel 5 saying that because its sides were sloped it was more slippery

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This phone has wider and flatter sides than the pixel 5 which makes it easier to grip but i still have to complain that it’s still somewhat slippery

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Maybe a textured metal etching on the sides for grip would have worked similar to what you find on some flashlights or hand tools and i put a photo of a flashlight in comparison to the 8a to show what i mean

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

From the leaks of the pixel 9 that is due to come out later this year it looks like they are going to be making the sides even more flat like the iphone so that might help with gripping on future generations of the pixel

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Perhaps if these phones weren’t so slippery more people wouldn’t have to put a bulky case on them

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Also i don’t like that the 8a is heavier than my previous pixel 5 which makes it less appealing to put a case on

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The 8a is also thicker than the 5
