Pros & Cons
Pros
Very easy to setup with the google home app on an iphone. With 3 nodes, it's great throughout the house and back patio. Speeds are very good. Excellent coverage in my 2300 sq ft colonial.
Cons
Nothing is intuitive, nothing flows, and the backup -- reading documentation -- is absolutely worthless. Get a good mesh wifi system from any other vendor. Trick is, the home app can only have five homes on an account.
Connecting the third unit proved to be quite difficult. It seems that the google devices have a very weak antenna as walls reduce the speed to a much larger degree than on the * router. Missing 2 power adapters.
Google wifi keeps disconnecting randomly, sometimes more than 7 times per day, which makes it an extremely unreliable solution (if the term even fits) no installation instructions were provided and trying to get our less than stellar internet provide ... Read More
The one in the living room delivers full speed (400 mb), only if i am on the couch, 5 feet away from the device. The original modem internet speed is way better (at the same distance) it only gets between 70-90 mbps.
Highlights
Quality
These were so easy to install and really amps up my internet speed and allows my wifi to be strong on all floors of my house.
Work great; easy to set up, even for a non-techy person.
My issue with the google mesh routers is that it is not communicated well that they need to be in a star topology.
Put this on my att fiber internet since it repeatedly would turn off and tell me no internet available.
Price
Great value and easy to use/set up.
This is an amazing mesh system for a fairly reasonable price.
Competitiveness
I searched and researched wifi mesh set ups for awhile, comparing manufacturers, dependability and overall usage.
