I have used it for diving in the blue lagoon to quad biking in the moroccan desert and its been faultless in those situations.
The overheating that can occur is when its being used on highest settings like 5k mode and the camera gets no air.
Only tried a couple of times due to poor weather.

Basically if you stand still with it or keep it in a small space it heats up quick and kills battery or shuts off
