I tried using the cheaper knock off version and it was broken before i used it once

The ridged legs hold it forward so the top of the camera wedges under the windshield and doesnt move

The only issue ive had so far is there is a screw on the bottom of the part that attaches to the tripod can become loose so make sure you check it before you lose your camera in the ocean or down a mountain

I made the mistake on not reading the specs but i should have gotten the bigger version of this
