Adjustable & not too heavy. The base adjusts between five different levels. It is on the heavier side however, with all of the wonderful safety features it comes with i would much prefer a little heavier than lighter.

The only flaw to this car seat is the inability to purchase the exact same car seat base with rebound bar and load leg you must choose one or the other and cannot have both
