There are about 35 pieces not including screws, but they are all labeled and broken down into 12 steps.

Not a deal breaker for me and i still really like the crib though.

They offered us to return it completely, ship another one and we switch the damaged parts or keep it and receive a discount.
Ours did come with a couple dings out of the box and amazon customer service was great when we called right away.
