Pros

Comes packaged very well in a small wooden crate. First plate delivered was broken in shipment but a replacement was quickly provided. We have two foo dogs by the front door that have been sitting on wooden bases for many years.

The weight is also incredibly helpful in stabilizing my bench. The seller intends it to be used a honing and sharpening surface which is fine though frowned on by many. It is sturdy and solid, doing the job excellently.

But for a woodworker to have a reference surface this is more than one will ever need. Good size for maintaining personal use woodworking tools and knives.

Very good for about 40 bucks. They are not cheap but good value for what we got. Nice to have a good surface block.

Grade aa is flat within 25 millionths of an inch. The sheet shows my plate as zero and 0. The amazon page says flat to. As other reviewers have pointed out, there is no indication of where the plate's support points should be.

K place it on a waterproof support and put a self adhesive strip of 220grit 3m sandpaper on one side of the surface.

This granite piece is one heavy and sold rock.

Fantastic price for such a piece, especially considering the shipping cost.

0015 is better than most humans are capable achieving in application without high precision, high cost tools to match.

I passed on the far more expensive starrett plate and that was an easy choice for me.
