Not as heavy as stoneware but got a great rise out of the first loaf made in it. The fact it's so light weight is what sold me on trying it, and i am sooo glad i did.

Neither the handles or knob on lid are heat proof so have to use pot holders. Trying to use strainer is a chore with small handles. Don't waste your money or put your family in danger of ingesting the cheap spray on interior.
