Pros

The valve action on this faucet is tight and precise, feeling almost hydraulically damped. The cartridge is very smooth and works very well. The handle and lever operate with precision and a smooth feel.

The chrome finish is sleek, and easily cleaned with a damp microfiber cloth. The sink is by an outside door so we often come inside with dirty or greasy hands & the small, light handle doesn't get dirty.

Grohe faucets are exceptional examples of german design and engineering. Ford in terms of engineering. It is simplistic in style, which makes a statement itself.

Plus a lifetime warranty. Easy-to-install and easy to care for.

Cons

There is major flaw in the design of this faucet that is easily documented. If you leave the water open in the minimal position the water will return along the bottom of the spout and go to the vanity.

The drain pipe screws into the drain with a fine thread but no seal.

The leak was coming from the connection between the shut-off valve and the cold water hose.

Price

I was reluctant to pay so much for my grohe hardware but i am so glad i chose it.

Packaging/appearance

The grohe essence new received is above and beyond beautiful.

Included in the box is a small thumb-screw wrench for removing the aerator.

Competitiveness

I have one moen faucet in my kitchen which is comparable to grohe in terms of quality and design.

I don't think any american company is fully grohe's equal.

I think you can get either moen or grohe as long as you are ok with the design.

It would be even better if they offered different finish options.
