This story requires a suspension of disbelief of which i’m not capable.

If you love high adventure, excellent writing, and fantastic world-building you could start here and then keep going until you complete mr.
Joe has written himself a great book that while introducing many characters and universes , keeps the flow even and fun.
The technology is reasonable given the date of the setting.
The beginning is a little slow, but once you get over the initial setup it goes by much more quickly.
Price
I’m glad there is a follow on book, but i’m not paying $3.

Lots of references to movies i like and just plain fun to read
