I had an old round 6 quart rival slow cookercrock pot that is a lot heavier both the outer shell and the inner crock my old rival crock pot is not working very well now after around 30 years so the hamilton beach one is much easier to handle since the casing and crock are much lighter which was a bonus as over the years i have developed some arthritis

The one thing i found was that you have to watch around the lid as it does have some moisture escape and it will spit a bit if you do not wipe up around it a bit especially when cooking on high near the end of the cooking time
