The lid has an auto lock feature on it.

The hb 80344 has all the grind settings you'll ever need. It offers three coarseness setting (percolator, auto-drip and espresso) the only drawback is the noise - which isn't too bad unless you are trying to quietly make a cup of coffee in the morning... Read More

Cons

Lids crack, chip, and break easily (probably because of the cheapness and instability) lid very, very difficult to get on and off. I think this product would be better if it had built in clasps to hold the lid down.

Grind is more uneven than my previous hamilton beach custom grind. It grinds great (when and if i can get it to work) it's very loud, and it doesn't grind all the beans. If we grind them twice, they turn to a fine powder. Poor quality.

I owned one before and after 4 years of regular use it started going out (lid switch not motor).

I placed the lid on the grinder in a wrong way and it got stuck.

I love this product, easy, convenient, portable for storage, and inexpensive!

For the $20-$25 i paid for it i think that is outstanding.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, well built and long lasting simple coffee grinder buy one, maybe two if they have quit making them.
