Pros
Hamilton beach coffeemaker costs much less than the krupp's brand. The elevated cup holder for coffee cups is also intended for storage of the loose coffee pod. The reusable coffee pod they include for freshly-ground coffee is also well constructed.
No biggy, purely cosmetic and still works fine. This is my second one i highly recommend it works great.
It brews quickly, and fairly quietly, and without a lot of steam escaping. Cleaning is much easier than a conventional coffee maker since there is no pot to clean. Only complaint is that the label has started to rub off the brew reg button.
The basket for grounds is sturdy, and is the easiest of all my coffeemakers' brew baskets to clean. The grounds basket is large enough so that i don't have grounds overflowing and getting into my coffee, or into the funnel.
Cons
It's only me and that is unacceptably inconvenient! It's not even a pretty red. Replaced it with a ninja.
Water heats up, but only only pours out about an ounce or two of before shutting off. Consider another unit either from hamilton beach or proctor silex.

Competitiveness
I made this purchase after reading pros and cons of most similar coffee makers, and glad i did.
Both methods were acceptable with k-cups better than the loose coffee pod.
