As an engineer i am a strong believer in functionality of whatever products i buy, and this hiking pole is very functional; first, it is lightweight with a cork grip, it has a ruler or measure marked on the outside of the stick, and the handle has a strap that has a small compass and a thermometer device (both small and functional but who wants large and heavy when you are hiking); i also like the fact that i can break it down for storage in my backpack or closet; plus the price is right (or you guessed it, functional).  Read Less
