Pros

The combination of this cartridge and the hayward filter canister are the easiest to clean and maintain. This one is a cx1200 re which fits perfectly in my cylinder.

Cons

Don't be fooled by the product description and product images. This is not an oem branded filter by hayward, which is how the product is described. I suspect that these were not genuine but a knockoff or (b) hayward switched manufacturing plants.

Pushing hard to force the filter down did not work and only crushed the filter. Concerned itmay leak in the future. I hope it will not break and crumble on first use.

Most water passes over the top of the filter, simply recirculating it to our pool. The filter lets dirt back into the pool. It’s more like a sediment filter. The old one flows much better and it clears the pool much faster.

Some of the filter pleats were wrapped unevenly. There are no extraneous pieces of plastic that haven't been properly trimmed. Also no “bracing bands’ around the element. Pleatco is s much better filter cartridge.

The hayward, with it’s long life, is the best value in pool filter cartridges.

Have tried a number of competitors, both name brand and "no-name" brands.

I agree with others who have said that it's not worth buying "compatible", or even so-called "oem replacement" filter cartridges.
