This was a perfect replacement for my old weir door that was cracking and started sticking in the upright position causing the skimmer to suck air and my pump to lose prime

In the meantime it looks like the small pivot holes on the sides of the skimmer box crusted up a bit and the new weir just wouldnt quite snap into place like it should

Not sure why my old weir cracked around the hinge but the result was that it would wedge partially open and the skimmer would suck air
