The manual recommends the use of cat 6 or at 7 cable. This means that i can use the imac even when it is positioned on the other side of the room. It is most suitable for cases where it would be impractical to run a long hdmi cable.

Then i firstly connected the transmitter end using a displayport to hdmi cable and plugging this into the hdmi port of the transmitter

This is a good idea due to the bulky nature of hdmi cables though i have found the units stay pretty stable on a desk
