The ratchets are clicky and work. They ratchet tight, hold fast, and short of misusing them i'm not worried about them breaking or letting go.

My straps, consist mostly of bungees and whatever ratchets either survived or someone gave me.
You can always find them on sale but this is a fair price even compared to hf.

These are very sturdy straps and with my 10x10 foot pop up tent the stakes at the base of each foot did not give me the peace of mind that during a high gust of wind the tent wouldnt take off
