Quality
It is very fast, i can play dvd quality movies from the sd card, run skype and browse the internet without any problems.
This unit is very capable and the only problem that i have had with the hx4700 is hp repair service.
I chose to not upgrade to microsoft' newer operating system for reason that i am satisfied with this older version.
Price
The biggest one has to be price!
Competitiveness
Spend the extra duckets and enjoy your machine.
I think you will find this a nice unit if you can get it at a nice price.
Battery life does suffer a bit but i'll take a fast unit than a laggy one any day.
) i had to get a 'new' one used on ebay.

Most people compare this to the dell axim x51v but its not a fair comparison

The dell has a smaller screen creaky plastic casing runs wm5 and is real lacking in the area of bluetooth profiles

However hp and dell kept both units with 64 megs of ram and thats where the hp shines
