Pros
Digitnow works on both macos & windows 10, although i preferred the interface on macos. Importing the scanned negatives using the photos app in macos gives you even more editing capabilities.
Cons
Epson at modest 400dpi vs hr scanner. It's quite insulting and devious to be deceived into thinking that i am talking to a person called 'demi' the resolution is really low. The images will appear a bit grainy like a webcam.
There were no instructions as to how to load the cartridge into the machine. It says it is compatible with windows 7 but it would not install on my pc in spite of many attempts. Sent it back for full refund. Couldn't load the software onto my laptop.

Price
Excellent price and extremely easy to use.
This was an excellent, easy to use low cost solution to save and convert images from photo negatives and slides to digital images.
For the money it is a good buy especially if like me you need digitise over 14,000 slides in a time efficient way.
Competitiveness
I used it for 35mm film negatives only & the software works on both macos & windows 10, although i preferred the interface on macos.
Great value for money & way better than the build your own box videos seen on youtube.

The scanner does its job very well but there is difficulty inserting the slide holder into the slot in the scanner

It also has a tendency to bleach out light colours and highlights on some slides and no amount of tweaking the settings improves them

Overall its good my problems where with the mini disc load my vertical load imac wouldnt take it i had to download from direct from digitnow biggest problem was the film carrier slide would not go through the scanner caused by the carrier retaining spring inside which i was able to repair avoiding having to return the item

The software driver is good but you cannot rotate slide before saving which is fine once you know
