Pros

Onboard controller handles all the funny business of multiplexing, timing, and current regulation. Worked great using a raspberry pi pico.

Cons

This gives an unsatisfactory appearance. Bought 2 units,both doa. Of the two hiletgo brand displays that i have, only one works the way it is supposed to.

They can get very bright with the correct settings.

I added a 1k ohm resistor in series with the din pin, which seemed to work.

With the intensity set to 0 they are readable in a darkened room.

Making sure it's flush with the board, then re-solder it in.
