The picture on the desk is between 10 to 8 inches away and the one on the floor is almost 2 feet

I wanted to use these to shine down on the dash of my car to indicate the correct point to pull in to avoid the garage door when it closed and a second one to indicate where to pull in so that the rear hatch would open and not hit the door
