The usb c connector is great and i have tons of these and you don't have to worry about the orientation when you plug it in.

I had purchased ones off ebay that were of super low quality and used a mini usb connector (the big clunky one from the last decade).

Mint 21 sees these devices as a braille interface, not a usb->serial converter
