Pros & Cons
Pros
The homer special 20 is a nice harmonica. This harmonica has a great ergonomic design, and larger holes than both cheaper and more professional harmonicas making it ideal for beginners. The tough notes like the 2 draw are still difficult for beginners... Read More
Cons
Compared to my hohner marine band models, this model is disappointing. It sound rinky * and cheap compared to the marine band model. Two of the upper register notes are slightly flat, so some of the chords in the lower register are harsh and dissonant... Read More
This harmonica has a nice rich tone - and the worst intonation problem i've ever had with a harmonica. This is particularly ironic since it came with an marketing booklet talking about how every one of their harmonicas is hand tuned by a master crafts... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Thank you for such a quality product.
Overall i'm very happy with the harp.
If you are buying a harmonica for a kid that will never use it maybe go with the swan, but if you want a nicer harmonica, don’t skimp!
I usually start an endeavor with mid range spending because i will not be an expert but want a quality product.
Price
Every thing was good well built instrument bought it cause i wanted to upgrade, price was excellent delivered on time, package ... Read More
Personally, i think the prices are 20% too high.
I'm glad that the bundle didn't cost anymore than just buying the harp on it's own, because that mini-harmonica is going in the garbage.
Competitiveness
They've been in the business for a long time and make great harmonicas at a reasonable price.
I’m not a professional player, but it sounds much better than the lower priced one i had been using.
But it’s a well-made instrument with a good sound.
If you play harp a lot and really get after it…they foul up after some time.

I dont really go over the mechanics of why the harp is quiet and sucking air but face it you really dont care about that you just want to know if this cherry price on a special 20 is legit

It isif youre short on money or the kind of beginner that likes to learn with a handicap so you can be better on the pro equipment buy a 10 dollar harmonica aka harp practice a whole bunch and then buy the hohner and you will find out that you are a lot better than you were on the cheap harp

Some people prefer a wood comb but these babies have gotten really expensive in the last 20 years and plastic comb is more durable for someone who is playing it all of the time and occasionally dipping it in liquid at a show or if your girlfriend kids or dogs get a hold of it drool all over it and throw it in the pool
