I pre-drilled with a 3/16 bit in the top and bottom of each rail. Have your vertical line line up with the stud, and your horizontal line as the bottom. Slide it down the rail and turn the hook to tighten it in place.
The sponge rubber holders adjust very easily by sliding them into place then rotating them until snug. You need to hold the end and turn the hook until the screw loosens the metal slider.
Cons
The metal is flimsy and hooks are not the most secure. Instruction say to drill 4 holes. No predrilled holes.
