The “wings' on either side fold down flat for insertion into the pilot hole, then spring back once inside.
The most common type of wall anchor, which is straight and slightly wider than the screw, is virtually worthless in my opinion.

Drywall already has a limit the anchor reinforces and increases stability

These anchors are all plastic and while decent do not feel like reinforced materials

You need to bend it first and drill the whole and then snug it in and then smash it

I wouldn’t trust them with the claimed 65lb weight rating
