Initially when you first take it out of the box the instructions tell you to run two or three of the longest cycles to burn off any oils or residues inside the machine before use with food

We did notice the sides were quite hot to the touch after this and i debated returning it

Be advised that the toaster sides do get hot while it in use it is not a cool touch toaster

It has the usual browning functions and i like how there is an lcd screen that shows you how long it will take for your toast to finish toasting that way youll know when you have to come back to it
