The filter is behind it and covers your face securely so there would not be any gaps. Only downside is that it's completely ineffective without the filter inserts.
Great product for the times. Nicely made, this lasts. It comes nicely packaged. One of my favorites of all the reusables i've tried so far.
Cons
Overall, overpriced and poorly engineered. Mask has basically zero protective properties without filter, basically a face diaper.
It appears that the strap was poorly sewn when manufactured. Fits poorly around nose. Other reviews state elastic tends to break, not sure washing them will accelerate breakage.

They’re a bit prices but oh so worth it if you have to wear a mask often or for hours at a time!
The mask is on the expensive side but for me well worth it.

I wanted to love this item and have the one go to mask but unfortunately, the mask that took 2 months to arrive didn't fit me.

Actually if this were implemented at an even larger scale the inserts use significantly less material and are easier overall to make so this is also more efficient and potentially cheaper but i dont imagine this specific design being implemented at a wide enough scale for that to work sadly

I do have a bit of paranoia about it and after i slide them into the slots on each side i do very slightly bend the edges so they hold a bit better
