The pre filter makes it more durable. This product is as advertized, shipped fast and is a direct replacement filter. Worth every penny.

We only use distilled bottled water in it and the smell right from the start was like an old damp dishrag. If you have even remotely hard water and use the faucet to refill the tank/wet the filter rather than just distilled water, the life of the filt... Read More

Grew black mold in less than 4 weeks, despite turning and cleaning as instructed. These filters * and only last for a month maybe a month and a half before they are moldy.
