Unfortunately on heatonly systems with no c wire i only had r w and g i learned after some digging that there is no way to connect this thermostat without either running new wiring from the furnace or installing an external transformer and wiring it in

My furnace is in an unfinished basement room so it wasnt a huge deal to run new wiring up to the thermostat on the ground flooralthough id never fished a wire thru a wall before

Im only giving 4 stars because there was no video example of my particular application and honeywell support recommended installing an external transformer as the solution to my wiring issue

It took about 5 minutes to get each initialized and set up on wifi

Only problem ive had is that one of the units stopped working after about 10 weeks

This happened because the rewiring i did was not compatible with my furnace tempstar and the unit was getting intermittent power from it

Why it worked for 10 weeks is a mystery but my hvac team claimed the workaround for the missing c wire caused the trouble to be sure i swapped the units with each other and had the same problem
