No special wiring needed to connect it up and the touchscreen makes it easy to use. Was a pretty easy install with a trane heat pump. Wires for me r & w.
Cons
This model of honeywell programmable thermostat is absolutely, positively worthless. I'm upset that they mislead its universality, and encourage ameture installation. Only accepts wires a certain size not specified (>18awg).

User's guide is vague and doesn't match screens. It's very very very time consuming and not intuitive, and it's incredibly convoluted. Reset and reprogrammed several times. Called tech support and got cut off twice.

After 12 years of faithful service my emerson 1f80 thermostat started having problems.

Great price and easy to install; work great too!
For less than fifty cents they could have built in a bubble tube at the bottom of that plate.
This was reasonably priced and i’m enjoying it.
Since the change my bill is around $150 cheaper a mont.

Unfortunately states like california are pushing the standard of wifi products so they can monitor and control your living standards.
Some homes use other systems, but basically it's all the same.
Our older model honeywell thermostat upstairs has been very dependable so we looked at what the brand offered.
After researching many name brand models i decided on the honeywell rth8560d t5 programmable touchscreen.

This does have the setting to make it automatically heat or cool based on your settings but you have to select it in the right step during setup

I did not install this but the installer had it in with no problem plus it had a few more connections my 30yearold did not have and i do believe my heating and ac function much better than before

I cannot comment on this unit as it requires a constant power wire which i found out i do not have
