Pros & Cons
Pros
Previous alarms i have seem that are similar have two posts and when water touches them it sets off the alarm. However, after having set this one off, i see how they work now. Many thanks to honeywell for this awesome product.
Quality, stainless jacketed supply lines are cheap on amazon. They can be reused if you spend a little time with them. They are easier to reset and reuse.
Toilet tank supply lines, sink faucet lines, washing machine hoses; these need to be checked annually and replaced every 5 years. Bought set to place under the hot water heater and air conditioner. Put one in the dark corner behind our water heater.
Cons
This water detector is a single use item. The packaging says they are good for 2 years, but the batteries are expired.
My basement is dripping water from the ceiling, i run up to check under the sink. On closer inspection there is a fine mesh glued to the plastic top with a sponge inside.
Highlights
Quality
Good peace of mind with this product.
Has helped me to prevent a water leak disaster twice great product
Pair this with a sound sensitive smoke alarm (like the minut point smoke alarm) and get notifications even when you're not home.
Price
I was really alarmed at how much it cost him to fix so i ordered these.
Packaging/appearance
Had one under a sink while a plumber was working on the drain.
It was a slow leak underneath the sink from a joint that had come loose.
Competitiveness
Much better than zwave or zigbee or any smart home solution.
