Pros
Simply unscrew the fixing screws underneath, pivot out old unit and replace with this one. Took less than 5 minutes and worked perfectly. It's worth delving into the installer mode to adjust a few settings.
Easy to fit if you're competent at electrics. Very pleased with the controller. Design looks good and the programmer is easy to operate.
Cons
Honeywell st9400c boiler has one glaring design error. The programmer loses the time so the hot water and heating come on randomly. This is the third unit i've had in 18months, apparently there has been a bad batch.
Control * not positive and programming fiddly. Looks pretty but only lasted 14 months before it stopped switching automatically.

My old unit was clicking both hw and htg on and off about once a second

The new unit was a straight plug in swap no need to change the base plate or alter any wiring

I had an old st9400s which would no longer function as the relays kept clicking and it was turning on and off every two seconds meaning the system could never reach temperature

Tried temporary fixing by turning the backlight off and making heating and hot water come on at different times but eventually stopped working all together
