Pros & Cons
Pros
Gadget does the conversion from 5 wire at source to four wire cable. If you need 5 wires for your wifi thermostat this is the item for you. Used it with a honeywell rth9580wf smart wifi 7 day programmable color touch thermostat.
Worked like a charm! Worked just as advertised. Works perfectly. This works beautifully.
For a conventional gas system for heating using forced air and ac. Reassign one of the existing wires to be used as the c wire. Heating and ac are on two separate transformers.
Cons
Remove the jumper. When the ac goes off, the heat goes on. Very frustrating. Instructions need to be more clear.

This module allows the kwire to carry signals that would have previously been carried by separate y and gwires but it will only work if your thermostat has a kterminal to accept this combined signal

I intended to pull a new run of 5wire using the old 4wire but no such luck
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
The 4wire didnt budge and i didnt feel like fishing the wire through the tiny little holes the current wire runs through

Im guessing that 4wire run was put in when the house was built and that its wrapped around a nail inside the wall
