Would have preferred automatic shut off thats a main concern but with the noise it makes acts as a reminder to shut off before going to bed or leaving the house

Fyi the unit turns off when there is no water left in the tank the light around the switch turns from green to orange or when you need to descale

Often when the unit turned itself off we would forget to turn the knob to off and it would be left on all day and the heating element would be slightly warm all day then when we went to refill it at night it would not go

At first we were perplexed and thought we had to descale it very often but then later we figured out that actually when the unit turns itself off due to an empty water tank you have to turn it off and wait until the heating element cools down a bit then you can turn it back on successfully

If you dont it will hopelessly coat the heating element with the mineral deposits and wont last too long maybe one season

Tip set a recurring reminder to yourself on your phone or computer to do the descaling
