Like others have mentioned it is a bit outdated when it comes to discussing things such as gender roles and shock therapy which was considered a typical treatment in the 60s when this was written

You only really need to read the first half of the book the second half you can skim as it is either repetitive or specific to certain situations that might not apply to everyone
