Pros & Cons
Pros
It stacks up very well against my last few windows computers from dell and lenovo, while at the same time being much less expensive. It's not easy to get in and upgrade ram or ssd but you can find videos on youtube how to get into this laptop and upgr... Read More
The b&o speakers sound better than the built-in speakers you'll find on the typical dell or lenovo computer. The speakers are fine, they just don't have a lot of bass, that would compromise the sound at higher volume. Headphones makes this a non i... Read More
The intel i7-7700hq is a solid quad-core performer. One of the benchmark applications i use is the x-plane 11 flight simulator. 50-60 fps on high settings. The nvidia geforce gtx video in the hp is probably somewhat faster.
Hp pavilion has a 1tb 7200rpm hdd, and 8gb of that sweet ddr4 ram. High speed ssd and hdd drives-screen quality and overall build-quality is excellent.
The system itself is sleek and seems to be well-made in a metallic case. The system is hefty and seems a bit larger than i expected it to be. The extra heft isn't a bad thing - it gives you a sense of solidity and stability.
Highlights
Quality
I love how fast it boots up with the sad.
I bought this laptop exclusively for gaming and im pleased for the price:rainbow six siege goes 40-60 fps on medium settings.
In build quality i am spoiled on the apple aluminum shells they use to encase their products.
For display quality, the hp is ok.

Competitiveness
Overall i am very happy with my purchase, and would recommend this over the acer and dell competition.
Battery life is surprisingly good compared to the competition also.
Compare that to the dell, acer, and msi competitions 1 hour max.
My desktop uses a 1 tb ssd and has a quad-core xenon processor in it and it still takes about 20 seconds to boot into read-to-use mode.

I replaced the 1tb hard drive with a 500gb ssd so that i had more fast storage and added another 8gb stick of ram there is one ddr4 sodimm left open which is nice repair service after about 3 months of using this laptop the screen would only work when i had it at a specific angle and maybe flexed the upper part of the laptop or tapped the screen a bit
