Pros

The color prints are crisp and have vibrant colors. It's fast, almost as fast as my monochrome printer. The print quality is exceptional, producing vibrant colors and crisp text.

This is the first laser printer i've used that i've found nothing wrong with and everything right—except for the cost of replacement cartridges.

The printer takes four toner black, yellow, magenta, and cyan. The toner is preinstalled by hp.

It's actually inside the front pull-down flap. It's a trap—and it's one hp sets every time. I just hope that knowing about my experience can save someone a hassle.

The hp4201dw is the wi-fi version of the hpethernet printer. It requires either a direct usb connection to your computer or an ethernet connection. It's all about the consumables, and printer manufacturers have to make money.

Cons

Instructions in the manual are maddeningly obtuse. Wouldn’t connect. Contacted hp and only got a link to repair centers.

Stay away from the obnoxious subscription service. The marketing messaging is misleading at best. Not worth the hassle or the price.

Prints were fast and on glossy paper they look great.

Delivery was very fast - the next day!

We put this into action the minute it arrived this friday.

Packaging/appearance

Open the box and the power cord and manual are right there!

I like the overall looks of the printer in my office (it matches my color schemes perfectly).

The printer is packaged very well and simply slides out of the box by laying the box on its side.

The box got wet, but the contents were fine.

Competitiveness

This is really fast compared to the other color toner based printers i’ve used in the past.

While i've owned two other hp lasers over the years, this is the first one i've owned that has the "instant ink" feature.

As this is my first personal color laser printer, i can't really compare it to my other inkjet printers.

I actually prefer printers like this compared to “all in one / jack of all trades” printers.
