Quality
The speakers are mediocre, but this is easily sorted by using headphones if you're concerned about sound quality.
Really pleased with this laptop, bought an additional ssd to use as a game drive and its been a daily driver for me for 3 months now.
But given the pervasive fan issues and poor quality control, i would not recommend it unless you're willing to deal with multiple returns.
However, all of this is spoiled by the poor quality control of the units.

Competitiveness
With the omen you have the option of a better specced, decent laptop at a lower cost than the competition.
It also has two ddr4 sodimm slots and i've replaced the stock 16gb of ram with a 32gb corsair vengance kit i had spare.
The inclusion of full size arrow keys is nice for scrolling pages, and good to see when competitors are compressing them.
It's a gamming laptop so to me this topic is irrelevant, but unplugged just browsing or watching netflix i get about 2.

It is loud and the speakers arent anything special but if you have a decent headset then this wont bother you

Going into the settings and changing the output to the internal speakers makes no difference and the only fix ive found is to completely delete the sound drivers and reinstall them which is ridiculous
