I had to darken the lens to get it to the right brightness that wont destroy night vision

I would not use it around someone wanting to remain dark adapted as the brightness of the red light will impact night adaptation

It was not packaged very well it was wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap stuffed in a flimsy piece of cardboard and shipped in a usps express mail envelope
