Pros & Cons
Pros
Works great to protect my glass desk (1/4) from the weight of a triple monitor arm setup. Had a human scale dual monitor arm and wanted to put on a glass desktop.
Metal plates are thicker, stronger, and more rigid than i was expecting. They are much more sturdier than wood even while being thinner.
Metal plating really reinforces the desk and makes it to where there is little to no stress on the center of desk itself. Bottom line is if you have an ikea table or a particle board tabletop, this metal plate is a must buy. My table is one of those p... Read More
Cons
My monitor is under 20 pounds but the arm will not hold it in place. It begins slumping but falls within 2 seconds. No pads and would not fit in space under desk anyway.
Highlights
Quality
) the finish on the metal is excellent and did not crack, chip, or peel when drilled through.
This base was easily installed and very sturdy on my glass top adjustable desk.
The plates are also extremely heavy each individual plate being close to 2 pounds.
Slip bottom plate in last minute when it's close unless you have second person to hold it while you tighten.
Price
With extended screens costing hundreds of dollars this option gives you versatility along with great aesthetics!
With all of the cheap junk coming from prc, this was a very nice and welcomed surprise!
I still prefer to not have $750 worth of monitors permanently hanging above something i know shouldn't be supporting it.
However, my desk was very expensive and i was afraid of the weight potentially digging into my desk and damaging it.
Packaging/appearance
Purchased to protect my new desktop, and wasn’t expecting the adhesive felt liners it came packaged with.
Came with a thin but sufficient piece of foam padding to go underneath to act as sort of a cushion.
Competitiveness
If they could make a model that is slightly smaller and cheaper, then this would be an easy 5 stars, but it isn't unfortunately.
Ikea desks are cheap and great however, when adding any type of clamp mount, you run the risk warping the top.
